Instead of 150 different systems, we now have one powerful platform.

When you're managing parts data across a network of 150 independent dealers, creating a single source of truth while maintaining dealer autonomy requires more than just technology—it requires strategic thinking.

The Challenge: Bridging Corporate Control with Dealer Independence

Vermeer Corporation wanted to expand their eCommerce reach to include retail customer online order placement using a unified platform. Additionally, they wanted to provide order fulfillment and order pickup through their dealer network.

Meeting this goal would require that a single source of Parts Information was utilized by Vermeer and all 150 participating dealers and that this single source of truth not only contains "global" master parts data but also contains parts information for each part specific to each of the 150 dealers.

This dealer specific parts data should only be editable by each individual dealer and served by the eCommerce solution for the specific dealer that was selected for order fulfillment.

The Complexity Behind the Vision

The challenge went beyond typical multi-user access. Each of the 150 dealers needed the ability to maintain their own pricing, availability, and location-specific data while working from the same master parts catalog. The system had to ensure that when a customer placed an order through a specific dealer, they would see only that dealer's information—never data from competing dealers.
This created a unique requirement: a centralized system that could simultaneously serve as a single source of truth for Vermeer while maintaining complete data independence for each dealer location.

This success story shows PIM in action, but what exactly is Product Information Management? Get a comprehensive overview of how PIM works and why it matters.

The Solution: PIMinto PIM's Multi-Dealer Architecture

PIMinto PIM was selected to provide the functionality required by Vermeer. All functionality required by Vermeer is supported by PIMinto as standard features.

"The beauty of the solution was that we didn't need to build 150 different integrations. One platform, one API, complete dealer independence."

Building the Foundation: Data and Access Control

The implementation began with establishing the core data structure and security framework.

Master Data Implementation

Initial Product data was loaded by Vermeer from spreadsheets and API connections, creating the foundational master parts catalog that would serve all dealers.

Secure Dealer Access

Dealer access keys were generated for each participating dealer. Access keys are used by each dealer to maintain their parts specific data in the editing user interface and through the PIMinto API. API Keys only grant editing access to specific fields defined for each dealer. Master parts data is read only and not editable by the dealer.

Intelligent Data Serving

Vermeer's headless retail eCommerce solution is connected to PIMinto PIM and automatically utilizes the dealer specific parts data for the dealer fulfilling the order. By utilizing the standard "View" functionality from PIMinto PIM and the API, the eCommerce solution always has the correct parts data.

Flexibility in Data Management

Parts data can be updated using the visual user interface or utilizing the API for leveraging automation, giving dealers multiple ways to maintain their information based on their technical capabilities and business processes.

The Results: Unified Platform, Individual Control

By implementing PIMinto PIM, Vermeer Corporation successfully expanded their eCommerce reach and streamlined parts data management across their dealer network.

"We transformed our dealer network from 150 separate systems into one powerful, unified platform while actually giving dealers more control over their own data."

Revolutionary Network Efficiency

The implementation delivered transformative results that benefited both Vermeer corporate and their entire dealer ecosystem.

By leveraging the PIM, all 150 dealers utilize the same PIM API for parts related data and integration with the retail eCommerce solution. This eliminates the need for creating unique connections to different dealer business systems and eliminates any custom integration code.

Successfully established a single source of truth for master parts data while maintaining complete dealer autonomy over location-specific information. Implemented secure, role-based access that ensures dealers can only edit their own data while maintaining read access to corporate master data.

Created a seamless customer experience where online orders automatically display the correct dealer-specific pricing and availability based on the selected fulfillment location. Streamlined technical architecture that replaced potential hundreds of individual integrations with one unified API connection.

The Technical Achievement

The solution provided Vermeer with a scalable architecture that could grow with their dealer network while maintaining data integrity and dealer independence. Instead of managing 150 different technical relationships, Vermeer now operates a single, powerful platform that serves all stakeholders efficiently.

The system's ability to serve dealer-specific data dynamically through the eCommerce platform ensures customers always see accurate, location-relevant information while protecting sensitive dealer data from competitors.
